Voice over casting these days is usually done by a third party that allows hundreds and thousands of people to have a sample of their voice and their work available for various customers who need a voice for a project. This type of work can be voices for film, television, radio or other type of media. Often it is for advertising, but there is a surprising variety of applications for this type of work. In years past it took someone to physically sit down and audition people for a particular job. This was time consuming and expensive. Today voice casting companies exist on the internet bringing together people who do voice work with employers who have projects that need voice work. It is now easy to browse voice samples online and choose the best voice for the job. All voice work is done by independent contractors with the casting company providing an online marketplace and by using escrow payment services, they are able to earn a commission from their service.
